Sutton on Hull CC Women’s 1st XI have officially secured the Women’s Championship East league title following a remarkably consistent and dominant 2026 campaign. Powered by 6 victories across the season at an impressive win ratio of 71.43%, the team set the gold standard for local cricket through outstanding individual performances, sharp fielding, and an exciting wave of emerging talent.

Leading from the front in every facet of the game was captain Hannah Paddison, who produced a true skipper’s season. Paddison finished as the team’s top run-scorer, amassing 147 runs at a stellar average of 74.50, including a season-best unbeaten 42*. She was equally lethal with the ball, finishing as the top wicket-taker with 7 scalps at an average of just 7.14, recording a best return of 2 for 7. To round off an incredible individual year, Paddison also anchored the team in the field, taking a team-high 8 catches to set the tone for her side.

The top-order support was crucial to Sutton’s 71.43% win rate throughout the campaign. Jodie Steeksma enjoyed a fantastic year with both bat and ball, chipping in with 107 runs at an average of 53.50 (top score of 33*). Steeksma’s bowling was equally effective, claiming 5 wickets at an average of 16.00, highlighted by an impressive spell of 3 for 6. Ellie Rodgers provided key runs when it mattered most, accumulating 92 runs across the season at an average of 46.00, with a top score of 30*.

Beyond the impressive figures of the senior leaders, the most encouraging takeaway from this title-winning campaign is the integration of youth. Several rising talents stepped up to make vital contributions during their 6 victories, proving they can handle the pressure at first-team level and offering a bright glimpse of what is to come.

The season, however, isn't over yet. Sutton on Hull now march on to the ultimate showpiece event: a Play-Off Final against the champions of the Championship North, taking place this Sunday, 13th September 2026, at Netherhall.

With a league championship trophy already in the cabinet, momentum on their side, and a strong foundation of youthful promise, the future is exceptionally bright for Sutton on Hull CC Women. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and supporters on a phenomenal achievement—and best of luck this Sunday!
