Sutton-on-Hull 1st XI endured a difficult afternoon on the road as they fell to a 140-run defeat against a strong Driffield Town 2nd XI side in Championship East action.
Having fielded first, Sutton found it hard to break down a resilient Driffield batting lineup. The home side built substantial partnerships throughout their innings, posting a formidable total of 272/5 from their allotted 50 overs. Despite sustained effort in the field, Sutton's bowlers were unable to slow down the scoring rate in the latter overs.
Faced with a steep run chase of 273, Sutton's reply got off to a turbulent start as early wickets restricted any initial momentum. Driffield’s opening attack maintained tight control, making run-scoring difficult and regularly taking wickets. Sutton were eventually dismissed for 181 in 41.1 overs.

Sutton-on-Hull CC 2nd XI produced a gritty, determined performance to defend 164 and claim a memorable 38-run victory over Cottingham CC 1st XI.
Batting first, Sutton found themselves in early trouble, sitting at a precarious 57/6 at the drinks break. However, a heroic 7th-wicket partnership between Kamran Hafeez and Syam Samudrala completely transformed the innings. The duo put together a vital 103-run stand off just 120 balls, anchoring the middle overs and putting Sutton back in control. Kamran paced the revival with a brilliant 53 off 78 balls (including 8 fours and 2 sixes), supported superbly by Syam’s composed 40 (57 balls). Their efforts pushed Sutton to a competitive total of 164 all out in 37.2 overs.
Defending 164, Sutton's bowling attack came out with intensity from the first ball with Syam back in action taking 3 crucial early wickets. Cottingham was kept under constant pressure, struggling to build partnerships and reaching drinks at 66/5 after 15 overs. Sutton's attack systematically picked apart the opposition lineup, bowling Cottingham out for 126 in 28 overs to seal a well-deserved victory.

Sutton-on-Hull Women’s 1st XI were involved in a hard-fought, tense encounter that went down to the wire, ultimate falling just short as Driffield Town 2nd XI chased down their target in the 18th over.
Batting first, Sutton set a solid foundation, showing patience and control across their 20 overs. The batters worked hard to build partnerships and keep the scoreboard ticking, finishing their innings on a competitive 114/4. Losing just four wickets across the 20 overs demonstrated great control, leaving Driffield with a tricky chase ahead.
In reply, Sutton’s bowlers pushed hard to defend the total, taking key wickets to keep the contest finely balanced. However, Driffield managed to find the boundaries when it mattered most, eventually reaching 115/4 in 17.5 overs to seal a 6-wicket victory with just 13 balls to spare.
