Sutton Cricket Club’s 1st XI suffered a disappointing afternoon on the road, falling to a nine-wicket defeat against Scalby. Lost the toss and put in to bat on a treacherous, tricky wicket, Sutton’s batters struggled to find their rhythm against a disciplined attack. Prince Bedi (28 off 58 balls) and Aaron Blagg (20 off 67 balls) provided the only real resistance, digging in to build a platform amidst difficult conditions before the middle and lower order fell away, leaving Sutton bowled out for 109.
Defending a modest total on a surface that offered little margin for error, Sutton’s bowlers pushed hard to apply pressure early on, but Scalby’s openers proved resolute. Archie Smithson produced the lone breakthrough for the visitors, claiming 1/13 from his tight three-over spell. Scalby ultimately made smooth work of the target, reaching 110/1 in 25.1 overs to seal a comfortable victory and leave Sutton looking to reset for their next fixture.

Sutton Cricket Club’s 2nd XI were dealt a six-wicket defeat by Hull Strikers on an overcast afternoon that finally saw the Netherhall pitch gain some much-needed rain and greenery. Asked to bat first after losing the toss, Sutton struggled to contend with the tricky, seam-friendly conditions and were eventually bowled out for 109. Keenan Challis (26 off 45 balls) and Jon Petfield (25 off 32 balls) provided the key resistance, digging in resolutely against a probing attack to help Sutton scrape past the hundred mark.
Determined to make a game of it, Sutton's bowlers came out with fiery intent and refused to give Hull Strikers an easy run chase. The bowling unit fought for every single breakthrough, reducing the visitors to six wickets down and keeping the pressure high throughout the second innings.
Amit Shekhawat led the fightback with a stellar spell, ripping through the opposition order to finish with clinical figures of 3 for 14 from his 4 overs. Despite Sutton’s spirited display in the field, Hull Strikers managed to edge over the line, leaving the 2nd XI to take immense pride in their competitive fightback under tough conditions.

Sutton Cricket Club’s 3rd XI produced a fine all-round display at Netherhall to secure a hard-fought victory over Goole Town 3rd XI in a rain-reduced, 30-over contest. Sent in to bat after Goole Town won the toss and opted to field, Sutton made light of the shortened format to post an impressive 173/8. Chris Steeksma led the charge with a fluent, top-scoring 54 off 52 balls, while Matt Noble provided brilliant late acceleration, blasting a quickfire 25 off 22 balls to set the visitors a steep target.
In reply, Goole Town gave a spirited effort to chase down the total, but Sutton’s bowling unit held their nerve to keep the run rate under control and regularly shatter emerging partnerships. The double act of George Crawford and Ian Peck proved to be the turning point, with both bowlers tearing through Goole's lineup to leave the chase gasping for air.
Crawford led the figures with a superb 3 for 21, matched by Peck’s tight, relentless spell of 3 for 32. Goole Town were ultimately restricted to 147/9 from their 30 overs, sealing a well-earned win for Sutton’s 3rd XI to round off a fantastic day at home.
