Beverley Town CC 2nd XI 227 All Out

Sutton-On-Hull CC 1st XI 233/3

Sutton Cricket Club’s 1st XI produced a stunning performance to pull off a sensational victory over high-flying promotion contenders. Put in to field after losing the toss, Sutton’s bowling and fielding units set the tone with incredible discipline, restricting a strong opposition lineup to 227. Keanan Challis led the attack with a brilliant, stingy spell of 3 for 10, supported by Harsh Verma’s economical 2 for 16 and a crucial three-wicket haul from Muhammad Khan (3 for 62) to keep the target well within reach.

The run chase saw Sutton recover from an early wobble at 41/2 thanks to a breathtaking, match-winning partnership between Aaron Blagg and Prince Bedi. The pair completely took control of the contest, putting on a masterful display that carried Sutton all the way to 223/3. Bedi was agonizingly unlucky to fall just short of three figures, bowled for a brilliant 99, but Blagg went one step further to notch a magnificent century, anchoring the innings with absolute composure.

With the scores level and the tension peaking in the final moments, Ryan Peck provided the ultimate grandstand finish, launching a massive six to seal an extraordinary victory. It was a incredible afternoon for the 1st XI, combining relentless work in the field with world-class batting to claim one of their finest wins of the season.

2nd Team

Hessle CC 1st XI 185 All Out

Sutton-On-Hull CC 2nd XI 179 All Out

Sutton Cricket Club’s 2nd XI fell just short in a thrilling, high-stakes battle against promotion contenders Hessle 1st XI. Winning the toss and opting to field, Sutton put in a stellar first-half display, rolling Hessle out for 185 in what looked to be a well under-par total on a good batting pitch. Rehan Nisar spearheaded the bowling unit with a terrific spell of 4 for 30, supported admirably by Syam Samudrala (2 for 28) and Amit Shekhawat (2 for 37) to keep the chasing target firmly in Sutton's sights.

In reply, Sutton's run chase hit immediate hitches as a steady, relentless flow of wickets disrupted their momentum and prevented any of the top order from getting truly established. Hessle's attack kept the pressure sky-high, reducing Sutton to a perilous position as the required rate began to climb.

Enter Yasir Bashir, who launched an incredible, fearless counter-attack to swing the game back into balance. Bashir smashed a brilliant 61 off just 60 balls, including four massive sixes that sent shockwaves through the opposition. Despite Bashir's heroic late charge bringing Sutton to the brink of a famous victory, the tail couldn't quite get over the line. Sutton ultimately fell agonizingly short in a fantastic, high-quality contest, taking immense pride from their fighting spirit until the final ball.

3rd Team

Sutton-On-Hull CC 3rd XI 131 All Out

Pelican CC Sunday XI 134/3

Sutton Cricket Club’s 3rd XI were handed a seven-wicket defeat by Hull Zingari despite setting a solid foundation with the bat. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sutton produced a resolute effort to post a respectable total of 169. Jon Boyton anchored the top order with a fine, half-century milestone of 51, while Chris Steeksma provided valuable support with a fluent 32 to ensure Sutton had a competitive total to defend.

In reply, Hull Zingari came out firing, making light work of the target with an aggressive display. They raced through the chase, reaching 173/3 in just 24.1 overs to seal a comfortable win.

Despite the difficult second innings, there were still notable highlights in the field for Sutton. Young Tom Ransom continued his steady development with the ball, picking up 1 for 26 from a tight spell, while Sam Ransom produced a moment of magic with an excellent run-out to reward the 3rd XI's tireless effort.

2nd Team Hundred Plate Final

Kippax CC Sunday XI 184/4

Sutton-On-Hull CC 3rd XI 127 All Out

Sutton Cricket Club’s 2nd XI saw their fantastic Hundred Plate campaign come to an end on Sunday, finishing as proud runners-up after falling to Kippax CC 1st XI in the final at Rufforth Playing Fields. Kippax won the toss and elected to bat first, but Sutton made an ideal start, tearing through the opposition's top order to claim two early wickets and put the pressure on immediately. However, Kippax recovered strongly, accelerating through the middle sets to post an imposing total of 184/4 from their 100 balls. Abid Shabbir (1/25 off 20 balls) and Rehan Nisar (1/29 off 20 balls) were the standout performers with the ball, both delivering tight, disciplined spells amidst the onslaught.

Chasing a steep target on the big stage, Sutton’s reply unfortunately struggled to gain momentum as a steady flow of wickets prevented key partnerships from forming. The sole bright spot with the bat came from Zia Farooqi and Charlie Brook, who combined to put together the team's only substantial stand of 48 runs. Farooqi provided fireworks with a blistering 34 off just 16 deliveries to briefly spark hopes of a comeback, while Brook offered solid support with a hard-fought 18 off 18 balls.

Following their departure, the opposition kept the pressure relentless, and Sutton were eventually bowled out for 127. While it wasn't to be on the day, huge congratulations go to the 2nd XI for a remarkable tournament run and for representing the club with immense pride in a well-deserved final appearance.
